Telia Company continues its digital transformation and launches the largest internal employee training program in the entire Nordic region to develop cloud technology competencies. In three years, more than 2,000 employees performing group functions will acquire the skills to work with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, more than 1,000 of whom are in Lithuania.
Cloud computing is becoming an essential component of the IT infrastructure of modern companies, enabling and supporting work with big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions. The ability of companies to operate efficiently and competitively in today's digital environment significantly depends on the smooth assimilation of such technologies.
Investments in the new training program will make it possible to significantly expand the cloud computing competence base and at the same time give already working specialists the opportunity to retrain or acquire new competences.
"In a rapidly changing technological environment, continuous learning and development, acquisition of new knowledge and skills are necessary in order to keep up with changes and be at the forefront of them. This is understood by many IT employees, who today consider learning and growth opportunities to be one of the most important advantages provided by the employer", says Mindaugas Šestilo, head of personnel at Telia Global Services Lithuania.
He emphasizes that the organization pays a lot of attention to the creation of a learning culture, where everyone can find suitable development opportunities and programs.
"We have no doubt that AWS training in Lithuania will interest many existing members of our team as well as colleagues who will join it and will contribute to the success of the organization and personal growth," says M. Šestilo.
As part of the digital transformation, Telia Company's team of data analysts integrated the company's IT infrastructure and processes into the AWS platform in less than a year. Last year, a total of more than 4,000 hours were devoted to employee training to ensure a smooth transition of the organization to AWS.
AWS is the leading cloud computing platform in the world, which is used not only by many technologically advanced companies, but also by organizations such as NASA or the US Navy.
Telia Global Services Lithuania and other functions of the Telia group in Lithuania today employ more than 1,000 specialists in IT, communication, data analytics, software development, procurement, personnel management, finance and other fields. It is planned that by 2024 the number of employees will increase to 1,300.
