At Tuesday's SXSW event, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that NFT technology will soon be integrated into one of the company's social networks, Instagram. Zuckerberg wasn't yet ready to explain exactly how the idea would be implemented, but he hinted that users will likely be able to showcase their NFTs on their Instagram profile and purchase new NFTs. It is hoped that this can be implemented in the next few months.
Zuckerberg and other Meta executives have long been interested in NFT technology. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said the company is actively exploring the technology. In January, the Financial Times reported that the company was hoping to implement NFTs in its Novi cryptocurrency wallet.
Mark Zuckerberg also hinted that NFT technology could one day reach the virtual space that the company is developing, for example, the clothes of virtual space avatars could be NFT tokens. However, for this to be realized, first of all, it is necessary to deal with technical challenges.
