Tele2 chose a partner for the deployment of the 5G network in the region: it became a well-known technology company

 


The mobile operator Tele2 chose the technology company Nokia as its partner for the implementation of the 5G network in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

 "Our mission is to provide quality communication services to all our customers. We have chosen a reliable and experienced partner for the implementation of the 5G network in all Baltic countries", said Petras Masiulis, CEO of Tele2.

The operator will cooperate with the technology company in the implementation of the radio access network ( Radio Access Network, RAN ). Also, at the beginning of this year, Tele2 announced that Nokia was chosen for the implementation of the central part of the 5G network in the Baltic countries. Companies are ready to start implementing the new generation network as soon as sufficient frequency spectrums are secured in each of the countries.

  "We are happy to continue our long-term partnership with Tele2 in the Baltic region. We are proud to have the company's trust in all 5G network deployments," Tommi Uitto, Nokia's vice president of mobile networks, commented on the partnership.

Along with the implementation of the 5G network, the operator will also update the existing 4G network - it will ensure higher speed and capacity and improve communication coverage in the Baltic countries.


in Latvia in 2021 December 17 the second part of the 700 MHz auction took place, where "Tele2" Latvia for 2.36 million Eur. acquired 738-748 MHz frequencies. The license for this spectrum will be valid until 2042. January 31 December 16 in the first part of the auction "Tele2" for 2.42 million purchased 703 MHz-713 MHz and 758 MHz-768 MHz frequencies. This license will be valid until 2042. January 31st.

After successfully acquiring both 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz frequencies in Latvia, Tele2 is fully prepared to start the development of 5G communication in the country. It is planned that the frequency auction in Lithuania will take place at the beginning of this year. In Estonia, the auction should also take place in 2022, but the exact date has not yet been determined.
