Mobile operator Tele2 has become the first telecommunications company in Sweden to publicly commit to reusing 100 percent of its entire corporate group by 2025. equipment used in its network. It will be refurbished, recycled or resold, and non-recyclable materials will be safely disposed of.
"The circular life cycle of network equipment is a significant sustainability solution that is central to our corporate strategy. We aim not only to ensure the best connection quality for our customers, but also to implement pollution-reducing solutions," said Petras Masiulis, CEO of Tele2 for the Baltic States.
Tele2 is committed to following only the highest sustainability criteria in its operations. In the fight against climate change, promoting a circular economy is one of the four main areas of the operator's sustainability strategy.
Applying the principles of the circular economy in the company will reduce not only the amount of waste, but also the impact of the industry on the environment. And the social and economic benefits are expected to be obtained, primarily, due to greater possibilities of reuse and recycling.
Implementing its vision to become a leader in sustainability, Tele2 already adheres to the principle of climate neutrality in its operations. The company until 2029 reaches 60 percent reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout its value chain.
Tele2 is also actively involved in a project run by GSMA, the global mobile industry association, to identify greater reuse opportunities.
