For those who want lower electricity bills: 5.3 million. euro incentive to become productive consumers

The Ministry of Energy announces that as of Monday, January 10, natural persons will be able to obtain financing for the installation or purchase of solar power plants and become a generating user.

For this year's first calls, 5.3 million is allocated from the European Union (EU) funds. EUR, of which 4.1 million EUR - for the installation of solar power plants in households, and 1.2 million EUR - for the purchase of power plants from remote parks.

"We aim for 2030 every third household would use renewable energy for its electricity needs. By promoting the energy self-sufficiency of households, we not only increase the generation of local green energy, but also increase the energy independence of the entire country," says Deputy Minister of Energy Daiva Garbaliauskaitė.

Residents will be invited until February 11. submit applications to the Environmental Project Management Agency (EPMA).

"We will start the invitations by investing about 5.3 million. euros, but later we plan to increase these funds and thus encourage a larger population," says the vice-minister.

It is estimated that, depending on the electricity consumed, the electricity bills of the producing consumers are at least a third lower.

As in the previous year, the financial incentive will amount to 323 euros for 1 kW of installed power of a solar power plant - both rooftop and remote solar power plants from solar parks. Funding will be provided for any type of solar power plant up to 10 kW. This means that the maximum amount that a resident can recover is 3,230 euros.

Those residents who already have installed solar power plants, but want to increase their power, can also take advantage of financing. For each installed additional kW, they can receive 243 euros. In this case, EU funds will also be allocated to reach a total power of up to 10 kW. This financial mechanism will be available to all owners of apartments, residential houses or garden houses who meet the requirements stipulated in the financing conditions of the measures.

A breakthrough in the solar energy market

In Lithuania, residents who produce and use electricity from solar power plants, known as producing consumers, are increasingly choosing to invest in green energy production. In the last two years, the number of individuals and legal entities that have installed solar modules on their consumer objects has increased fivefold. Although the growth rate this year has remained stable from last year, compared to 2019, the jump in the number of producing users is extremely high. In December of this year, the total number of such users reached 14 thousand, of which almost 93 percent. are private residents, and the remaining 7 percent. - companies.

The latest data also show that the capacity of connected power plants is growing significantly, which is greatly influenced by the financial incentives provided. in 2020 the average power of power plants installed in residential houses was 8 kW, and this year - 10 kW. Accordingly, the average power of power plants of business customers reached 34 and 43 kW.

Applications will be available through the Agency's information system APVIS.
